R.S.S.Seva work in Earthquake- Crisis
On 26th January 2001 when the disaster occurred , Bharat mata  poojan programs  where in progress at number of places. These programs and the Rashtra Jagaran Abhiyan suddenly came to a halt and all the swayam savacs rushed to the earthquake hit sites for various rescue operations.
Major damage was seen in Kutchh, Ahmedabad and Saurashtra region. Our swayansevaks sprang into action for locating taking  out and rushing the injured for medical assistance . Also they engaged themselves  in the rescue work of  different types. All possible efforts were focused on saving human casualties and in cleaning the debris to save those who got buried under the rubble.  Identification of the dead, locating their relatives wherever possible and in reaching them to the place of nearest medical assistance, were the first prioriting them.
Dedication of swayamsevaks:
Many swayamsevaks works against all odds. It came to light that Shree Devshibhai Bhalodia who is the Taluka Sanghchalak of Jodia in  Jamnagar District ran for help  even though his own house had collapsed. The Kutch Jilla Sanghchalak Shri Chamanlal Kansagara lost his daughter in the house that collapsed, yet he came out for helping others. There were many more such  cases worth  citing. At Bhatar road in surat the Harekrishna complex collapsed. Karyakartas which they found valuables worth around 10 lacks handed over to the respective honors. Over 25 thousand swayamsevaks worked actively at various   places in the state.
Medical Help:
Medical were opened at  bhuj, bhachau, anjar, rapar, radhanpur, patan, dhanera, disa, unjha, sidhhpur, mehsana, kadi and kalol. Seva is being rendered in hospitals at karnavati,jamnagar, rajkot and morbi. At karnavati over 500 workerrs are looking after medical   treatment to the victims in  Civil  Hospital, L.G.Hospital ,V.S.Hospital and Sardaben hospital round the clock. Besides these Dhanvantari Trust ,Karuna trust, Kutchh Jain Samaj Trust have also accommodated patience from the earthquake effected areas. Many doctors have accommodated patients in their private hospitals too.
In Mumbai the Hinduja Hospital, Lilavati Hospital ,K.E.M. Hospital have more than 200 serious patients admitted for specialized  treatment. Industrialist Shri Vimal Kedia and Shri Vasantrao Tambey (Maharashtra Prachar Prmukh) are personally supervising the work.
*In addition, In mumbai around 350 quake-effected patients are under going  treatment at  different hospitals.
*In North Gujarat 2000 patient needing long duration treatment are nursed at for different centres.
The relief work:
There has been a large inflow of all kinds of food stuffs as well as shelter material from all over the country. Alirajpur Seva Bharti has send blankets and tants. From Mumbai 2000 tents have been recieved. Akola Urban Bank has send 8 truck full of rice ,dal ,jaggory as well as blankets. 2 and half tone of dal has been received from Madhya pradesh. Similar aid continues to pour in.
